ONLINE TASC Summer Leadership Workshop: July 13-16, 2020


  • Students in grades (for the 2020-2021 school year) 8 - 12 may be registered for student sessions. (An advisor must register students.) One three-day and one one-day workshop are offered.
  • Advisors only register for Advisor sessions. ML Advisors are welcome although the majority of registrants will be HS advisors. One three-day workshop is offered. When both students and advisors are registered, the advisor will be provided extension activities which can be used to plan your year and, if interested, may have a personal consultation with a TASC Leadership Consultant.

It is the responsibility of the advisor to retain a signed copy of this release form for each student he/she registers for a Summer Leadership Workshop. Advisors must also obtain any other permission forms required by individual schools or school districts.

By registering for a workshop, advisors also acknowledge that their likeness will also be online and/or used in photographs, etc, by TASC and release TASC from all liability.

TASC Leadership Workshops help student leaders and advisors develop skills needed to effectively lead a student council or chapter at the campus level. In addition to learning skills and techniques to improve student council operations, delegates gain insight into their personal leadership strengths. Led by experienced educators with a strong commitment to youth programs, the workshop program has an over 50 year history of serving student councils and honor societies in Texas.


2020 TASC Virtual Summer Leadership Workshops
Is your council ready for 2020 and beyond?

Student leadership training: These workshops provide the foundation for a successful student council
year and will include acquisition of knowledge and skills, building relationships and connection, goal
setting, project planning, and support.
Advisor leadership training: Advisors will cover council organization, facilitation skills, and a roadmap
for a positive, intentional plan for council achievement in addition to the opportunity to share resources
for a smooth transition to the coming school year while building the network of support valued by TASC.

Registration
• Registration is $25 per person. All students must be registered by an advisor.
• Schools may register up to 20 students per school.
• TASC understands that some may have difficulty accessing activity funds. While our website will
send out automatic reminders regarding payment, TASC knows that some will not be paid until
the fall of 2020.
• No cancellations are allowed but substitutions may be made.
• A cell phone number and email address are required for each person registered.
• Registration will remain open until July 8 or until workshops are filled.
Students have two options for the workshop:
• Two hours per day for three days: 1:00 – 3:00 pm CT on 7/13, 14, and 16
• One day: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm CT on 7/15
• Student workshops will be a mix of large and small group meetings with some supplemental
small group meetings scheduled by individual small groups outside the regular meeting times.
• Students from the same school may be registered for different workshops depending on their
schedule and time needs.
Advisors have one option for the workshop:
• Two hours per day for three days: 1:00 – 3:00 pm CT on 7/13, 14, and 16
• Advisors who register will be provided extension activities to continue after the workshop and
will have the opportunity to schedule an individual consultation with a TASC Leadership
Consultant.

    Discover the road map for student council success through in-depth training and experiential learning activities. Student council experts deliver relevant world-class curriculum and resources. Please note that some workshops are limited in the number that can attend. Registration is online. If you must have a particular workshop date, register early with a $100 deposit per attendee. Because there is a $100 fee for changes by a set deadline and there is no refund after the registration deadline, you may register for the number you are sure of and add students later for no additional fee if there is room.

TASC provides summer leadership workshops of a high quality and significant value to student councils in Texas. The success of the workshop program depends on the adults who give of their time and talents each summer. The roles of both the director and the consultant, although very different, are vital to accomplishing the goals and objectives of this TASC program.

Student council advisors with the skills, interest and time to serve in this capacity are encouraged to participate in the training program. TASC is interested in developing adult leaders who are willing to commit to student leadership instruction through TASC.
