Breakouts at the ML Conference are 15-minute presentations to small groups (approximately 30 participants) scheduled for the second day of the conference. Exhibitors, Endorsed Programs, middle-level schools, and high schools are invited to present. An advisor should be in the room with middle-level presenters. Your topics may be relevant to either honor society, student council, or general student leadership. Active participation is encouraged, and dependence on AV, such as video, PowerPoint, etc. is discouraged. Internet is not provided.

Keynote Speakers

Joel is an ideas guy. His gift seems to stem from a strange combination of observation, insight, and blatant disregard for conventional thinking. He's also a juggler (literally and figuratively). In addition to leading the Beanstalk Creative team, he maintains a busy schedule as a keynote speaker, creating unforgettable spectacles on stage. He's the father of 3 kids, 2 of whom co-habitated a uterus, and he attempts to be a good husband. Joel has authored 3 books, (2 of them with Brandon), and he taught engineering for over a decade at McMaster University, where he was named one of the Top 150+ Alumni. He formerly chaired the board of the world-renowned Hamilton Children’s Choir, and he's a semi-competitive joggler (that's right... juggling whilst jogging).

Brandon leads the design and delivery of Beanstalk's live programs. When he’s on the stage, Brandon's been described as an "inspirational wizard". He really does make magic. More importantly though, he shows people that they can make magic.

An expert in creativity, he authored two books (with Joel): Brainsprouting & Teaching Creativity. He's a legit member of the Academy of Magical Arts at the World Famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. He’s taught high school, and also university. He’s even taught teachers. Along the way, Brandon also formally studied education, psychology, philosophy, hypnosis, and yoga.
